How to (Parent) Volunteer

CODE OF CONDUCT

To volunteer you will need to sign the Code of Conduct for Adults. This is done electronically through your MyScouts account. You need to contact your Section Scouter so they can arrange to have a Role added to your profile. The next time you sign in you will be asked to Accept the Code of Conduct.

Code of Conduct is renewed annually. You can view the Code of Conduct online at any time here.

 

SAFE SCOUTING FOR PARENTS

When staying overnight you are asked to successfully complete the training sessions titled "Safe Scouting for Parents". This training takes roughly 30 minutes to complete.

How to access the training

To access the training you will need to be logged in to your MyScouts profile.

Once you have logged in, you will find the Parent training on the left side menu.

The training will open in a new window. Start the Movie and follow the instructions for the training. 

After completing the session, it should be listed under the "My Training" tab.

BEGIN THE PRC/VSS PROCESS

To volunteer overnight, you must undergo both a Police Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Screening. This must be done even if it has been completed elsewhere (e.g., at school, hockey coach)

The form MUST be printed on Legal Size Paper 

Complete the top portion of the form and the portion at the bottom for mailing address.

You can bring the completed form to the next meeting, along with the $20 fee and we can submit the form on your behalf. Or you can send the form and fee directly to the Central Ontario Service Centre, 1711 Simcoe St N, Oshawa, ON L1G 4Y1. Located at Camp Samac. The office is open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm 

The form will be returned to your address by mail. At that time, you will need to bring the original form back to your Section Scouter or Group Commissioner so that they can take it to our Council Office for validation.

PRC need to be renewed every 3 years.
