Did you know there are nearly 20,000 species of bees around the world? Bees play a vital role in pollination, helping plants grow and food crops flourish—but they’re currently at risk in Canada and need our help!
These activities will help you observe bees, learn about their importance, and discover ways to support them.
🌸 1. Signs of Spring – Spotting Nature’s Renewal
Spring is the time when bees wake up and get back to work! Go for a walk in your neighborhood and look for these signs of spring:
✔ How many flowers do you see beginning to grow?
✔ What color is the grass—has it started turning green?
✔ How many different bugs can you find?
✔ How many birds do you see?
🎨 2. Create Your Own Bee!
✔ Using craft supplies, design your own bee! You can draw, paint, sculpt, or collage—get creative with how you make your bee come to life!

Bees play a crucial role in pollination, helping flowers and food crops grow. Find out what pollination is and why it’s important!

🐝 4. Helping Bees – Take Action!
Bees are at risk in Canada, and they need our help! Find out three to five ways we can protect and support bees, such as:
✔ Planting bee-friendly flowers to provide them with food sources.
✔ Avoiding pesticides that harm pollinators.
✔ Creating safe spaces like bee hotels in backyards and parks.
✔ Spreading awareness by teaching others about bee conservation.
✔ Supporting local honey farms that promote sustainable beekeeping.
